A giant panda loaned to Malaysia from China has given birth to a rare third cub during its stay in the Southeast Asian country, wildlife officials said Wednesday. The cub was born Monday at Kuala Lumpur zoo to Liang Liang, who has been on loan to Malaysia since 2014 along with a male panda, Xing Xing, said the country s wildlife department. Liang Lianggave birth to her third cub on Monday, May 31, at the Giant Panda Conservation Centre at Malaysia’s national zoo, the Zoo Negara, in Selangor.
According to Malaysia s Department of Wildlife and National Parks, the cub was delivered at 8.30 p.m.
It will be the giant panda couple’s third cub since arriving in Malaysia seven years ago as well as another success for the Giant panda Conservation Centre.

Giant pandas Liang Liang and Xing Xing have welcomed another cub to their family at the National Zoo of Malaysia.
The Wildlife and National Parks Department said today that Liang Liang safely delivered the cub yesterday at the Giant Panda Conservation Centre. The gender of the cub has yet to be identified.
“At this time, the gender of the cub has not been identified as it is still under the care of its mother and we cannot come too close,” it said in a statement. Staff at the zoo would continue to monitor and supervise Liang Liang and the cub for the next 24 hours.
