KATHMANDU, Oct 29: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his deepest condolences to the families of ten Nepalis killed in a terrorist attack in Israel, while renewing his call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
KATHMANDU, Oct 28: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is arriving in Kathmandu on a four-day official visit to Nepal, commencing on Sunday. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Guterres is scheduled to arrive at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport at 1 AM on Sunday.
The writer, a former UN staffer, says: If the UN Chief and his team get to understand Nepal beyond the caricatures that are prevalent, it will help this society to stabilise itself and also engage as a proactive member of the international community.
