Condemned by several senators and derided by many for baselessly red-tagging community pantry organizers, Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr will still likely not get axed by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
Malacañang said on Tuesday, April 27, that the matter is not significant enough to call the attention of the Chief Executive. Our President does not micromanage, said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque when asked if Duterte would fire Parlade from his post as NTF-ELCAC spokesperson as suggested by Senator Panfilo Lacson. It s up to NTF-ELCAC if they will follow the recommendation of Senator Lacson, continued Roque in Filipino.

Solcom commander and NTF-ELCAC spokesperson Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. As far as Senator Panfilo Lacson is concerned, a gag order is not the appropriate response for Southern Luzon Command chief Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. amid his controversial remarks against community pantry organizers. In a statement on Monday, Lacson cited a law Article XVI, Sec. 5, Paragraph 4 of the 1987 Constitution that bars an active member of the military from being appointed or designated in any capacity to a civilian position in the government. Aside from being Solcom commander, Parlade is the spokesperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

On Monday, April 26, at least 5 senators officially called for a Senate inquiry on how the task force is using its P19.1-billion budget given the baseless and unsubstantiated public claims of its spokespersons – Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr and Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy.
Senator Joel Villanueva led 4 other senators in filing Proposed Senate Resolution (PSR) No. 707 which seeks to ask the appropriate committee to look into the effectivity of the programs of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Insurgency (NTF-ELCAC) and how it s been spending taxpayers money.

Published April 24, 2021 6:24pm Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon on Saturday said he would introduce a resolution censuring National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict spokesperson Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. for remarks he made against senators. “Ngayon lang ako nakarinig ng isang opisyal ng Armed Forces na sinasabing istupido ang mga senador. That is very disrespectful at uncalled for,” Drilon was quoted as saying in a statement. (This is the first time I heard an official of the Armed Forces call senators stupid. That is very disrespectful and uncalled for.)
