how do you interpret what he s doing today and the reasons for which he is back in texas and then on to louisiana? i m going to agree with carrie. we do need a commander in chief. so a commander in chief as of today in dealing with houston would do several things. one, he would suspend his efforts on a tax cut and drive through the congress a responsible and fully funded bill to rebuild houston, beaumont and the others. by the way, peter, hang on two seconds. hey, there s some hugs right there, guys. he is at the nrg stadium there in houston. just walked into the property there. he s being far more tactile than he was in his first visit. just getting right there up with folks who have been displaced by harvey. again, this is a recovery center. you know, so there he is perhaps now showing a little bit more to his critics that he s got an
to right the ship. is there a consensus, sir, that the president is not meeting the expectations of the people who voted for him? and how much do you think what we re seeing there in the nrg stadium might turn that around, at least superficially? well, i think people want to see president trump lead from the front. that they do want him to speak for all americans. they want to see his agenda of tax reform, more jobs, a better trade outlook, improved national security situation, all headed in the right direction. and that is under way in the congress. but i think they also want to see him in their role as father of the country and commander in chief. i ll say, first year presidencies are tough. we saw a very difficult 1993 for bill clinton where people were resigning from the state department, resigning from the white house staff because they didn t agree with the early day administration of that administration. so i think general kelly and donald trump know what they need
