Dansville businessman, community leader, philanthropist remembered for making a difference By Jasmine Willis DANSVILLE A community mourns the loss of a great businessman, community leader, friend and humanitarian. Jon Shay, 78, passed away at Noyes Hospital on Monday, Jan. 18. He left behind an enriching legacy that cannot be replaced or measured. Jon Shay touched every life in his hometown of Dansville and beyond. People called him Mr. Dansville. They will tell you he was everywhere at once. He was at all of the events, impacted every life he touched, and made you believe in yourself. Tom Wamp, Dansville Rotary Club member and a childhood friend, said Jon Shay was the key to making anything a success in the community.

Ann, Carl Myers donate $350K for new mental health clinic in Avon Donation to the Foundation for Noyes Health matches state grant Staff reports DANSVILLE The Foundation for Noyes Health on Monday announced a donation of $350,000 from Ann and Carl Myers of Springwater. The donation matches a previous grant of $348,500 from New York state to partially fund the construction of an out-patient mental health clinic in Avon, an expansion of Noyes Health’s current Health and Wellness clinic in Dansville. The Myers’ previously donated $2 million to the capital campaign to build a cancer treatment center at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Since the Ann and Carl Myers Cancer Center opened in January 2017, the Center has seen more than 10,000 medical and radiation oncology visits a year, with patients from all over the Genesee Valley and beyond getting the expert care of UR Medicine’s Wilmot Cancer Institute.

Parents Gabrielle Quenell and Joshua Woodard welcomed their 6-pounds, 5.4-ounces baby boy at 12:20 a.m. It is the Lima, N.Y. couple’s first child. Certified nurse midwife Amanda Halpenny attended at baby Gavin’s delivery, where he measured out at 20 inches long. The baby was photographed wearing a snug head nappy sporting the word BUFFALO representative of being a Buffalo Bills fan from birth, it is believed.
