Energy efficient lights slated for Deford

Energy efficient lights slated for Deford Mary Drier, For the Tribune March 16, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail NOVESTA TWP. Things will soon brighten up in the community of Deford. During the last Novesta Township meeting, the cost of providing street lights in the unincorporated community of Deford was discussed. “When we were looking at the budget, the lights in Deford seemed high,” said Supervisor Chad Daniels. “So Pennie reached out to DTE for an explanation.” Township Clerk Pennie Rienas was informed by DTE that Deford has one LED light, one high pressure sodium light, and the remaining 13 lights are mercury vapor lights. “The mercury vapor lights cost way more to run,” explained Rienas. “So DTE gave me an estimate that if we would change all of our lights to LED, it would cost about $2,424 and we would get a rebate of $433 from DTE, so the final cost would be $2,009.
