About 4,886 residents are still displaced from evacuation areas after a wildfire in the Tantallon and Hammonds Plains areas forced more than 16,400 people from their homes.
Members of the Canadian military, along with several American firefighters, arrived in Nova Scotia on Saturday to assist in the continued fight to contain several wildfires.
The province announced on Sunday that the fire in Tantallon, which destroyed about 200 buildings and caused thousands to evacuate, is now under control.
Officials said on Saturday morning that although the wildfire in the Tantallon area is no longer spreading, it could be weeks or months before it can officially be confirmed ‘out’.
