europeans and the americans might have to have more central bank intervention into the markets and also said that there have been policy decisions in europe and the united states that have been poor, and then on top of that, that was enough. that was already bad, brooke. then we got some economic reports right here in the united states. slowdown in housing, slowdown in manufacturing, and, you know, not a great report about new jobless claims. basically it all piled on. people ran out of stocks and back into into, you know, safer investments, but, really, it all started in europe. let s go there, richard quest. tell us what you did. we had a pretty awful day on the european markets. the dax in germany, main index in germany was off by 6%. by the close, all the major european markets down 4%, 4.5% and 5%. and the real reason, very much following on your theme, having had fear, worry and concern. now there are facts, and they may not be very strong facts, but as we will show

you can tell these people are not praying enough. that s what s wrong. this is piers morgan tonight. good evening, president obama is out on the trails today blasting republican rivals and urging americans to send a message to congress. he sat down with wolf blitzer for a one-on-one interview. wolf joins me now. wolf, congratulations on your scoop interview. what was the most striking part of it from your point of view? at one point we started talking about the tenth anniversary of 9/11. and i m very worried, piers, i don t know about you, but i m very worried having studied terrorism in the middle east for a long time that al qaeda elements, whatever is left of al qaeda or sympathizers, will seek to do something spectacular on the tenth anniversary of 9/11. i was wondering how concerned the president was. and he s very concerned. and he specifically is concerned about what he called the lone wolf terrorist emerging, someone along the line of what happened in norway.
official that he will be unveiling his job plan when congress returns in september. they return early september after labor day. a senior administration official billing this as a major speech and telling us that this is likely to be a mix of tax cuts, of infrastructure spending, and something to address those that are the long-term unemployed. the thing to consider, kyra, all of those things laid out there are items republicans are flatly opposed to or opposed to the way in which the white house and democrats so far have said they want to execute those issues. in the meantime, we are three hours away from the president coming here to this hybrid corn seed warehouse in atkinson, illinois, where he is going to be draefg a croaddressing a cro already lining up to get inside to ask him questions in this town hall meeting. this will be his first it would have today in what we are expecting to be probably a largely friendly crowd here today. kyra? well, our wolf blitzer also had
