Abu Dhabi’s HOPE Consortium announces speakers at World Immunisation & Logistics Summit ABU DHABI, 10th March, 2021 (WAM) Abu Dhabi’s HOPE Consortium today announced the inaugural World Immunisation & Logistics Summit, a major international gathering of front runners and senior decision-makers leading the charge in the collective human effort against the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the international speakers will be Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO; Mark Suzman, CEO, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; and Stanley C. Erck, President and CEO, Novavax. The summit is organised by the HOPE Consortium, an Abu Dhabi led public-private partnership responsible for the mass distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to the global population. It will take place virtually on 29th and 30th March, and will further cement Abu Dhabi’s pioneering role in the fight against COVID-19.

Seatrade Maritime puts spotlight on supply chain, seafarers issues DUBAI, December 18, 2020 Seatrade Maritime Middle East Virtual 2020 (SMMEV), the region’s leading event in the shipping industry, concluded on a successful note with two sessions featuring a panel of experts from the maritime industry in the Middle East region.   The three-day event, which kicked off on December 14, provided an ideal platform for knowledge sharing and networking, uniting professionals from the industry globally and highlighted the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the logistics ecosystem and professionals who are part of the industry.   The concluding day featured sessions on building a resilient supply chain and adapting to the new normal , while also tackling the fundamental issue of the physical and mental wellbeing of seafarers.

Digitalisation paves the way for future global port eco-system

Cooperation amongst ports worldwide will “no longer be by choice but by necessity” as customers are increasingly looking for end-to-end supply chain and optimal connectivity, with individual port still having their own competitive market, according to Robert Sutton, Head of Abu Dhabi Ports Logistics Cluster, Abu Dhabi Ports (ADP). “2020 is without doubt a year of surprises, challenges and opportunities. We believe that the crisis [Covid-19 pandemic] is a trigger for innovation and certainly it has proven to be the case for ADP,” Sutton said. The digitalisation of port operations is not about digitalising a single process, but rather it is about how the port can leverage digitalisation to have a wider impact on the entire eco-system of ports, Sutton explained.
