Notre Dame still plans in-person commencement for 2021 grads

SOUTH BEND — The University of Notre Dame is still planning for an in-person commencement this spring, the Rev. John Jenkins, president of the university, announced Wednesday. The in-person ceremonies celebrating the Class of 2021 will take place the weekend of May 21 to May 23 with a limited number of family and guests invited, subject to public health guidance available closer to the commencement weekend. The university will make celebrations available online to family and friends unable to attend in person. “We believe at this time that it will be possible to safely host these events — with some modifications, of course — with and for our graduates, who will have been on campus all semester and therefore subject to regular surveillance testing and the many other public health protocols that are in place,” Jenkins wrote in a letter to the Notre Dame community.
