While Apple has been fined again and again in other countries, one country that not many people hear about is now fining the company as well. Russian antitrust authorities have just recently fined Apple a whopping $12M for antitrust violations.

As reported by The Moscow Times, the massively popular tech giant has recently been sued by Kaspersky, another large cybersecurity company, due to the unfair treatment and an antitrust violation. The reason behind these fines is something that Apple has been getting as of late with different countries.

The ongoing battle between Apple and music streaming service Spotify may finally get a resolution this week.
The European Union s competition watchdog is expected to issue antitrust charges against Apple in the coming days as part of its investigation into Apple s App Store policies.
Apple s Antitrust Charges
According to Financial Times, since June 2020, the regulator has been probing Apple s mandatory use of its own payment system for in-app purchases and the 30% commission it applies to apps sold on the store. A separate EU probe is scrutinizing Apple s approach to mobile payments.
Upon launching the investigation, the EU s competition chief Margrethe Vestager said that Apple had obtained a gatekeeper role when it comes to the distribution of apps and content on its devices.

Bloomberg reported that Apple has been making a move to overpower its existing tech rivals. For Horacio Gutierrez, the Chief Legal Officer of Spotify, the tech giant s rules are nothing more than an abusive power grab. Apple abuses its dominant position as a gatekeeper of the App Store to insulate itself from competition and disadvantage rival services like Spotify, Gutierrez spoke to the lawmakers.
