Retiring Marblehead s birthday sign
The sign proved a bright spot for Headers during COVID

Throughout the pandemic, there have been many inspiring stories of Marbleheaders coming together to support neighbors and local businesses. Another symbol of that community spirit is being retired this summer the rainbow birthday sign.
“People were looking for a bright spot, something cheery and that’s definitely what it was,” said Kathleen Collins, who spread word about a 3-foot by 5-foot plywood birthday sign that circulated around town. Since June 2020, more than 80 people have placed the sign in their yards.
