Moyne Shire Residents Encouraged To Apply For Academic Support Scholarships
The Moyne Shire Council is calling on students commencing tertiary education in 2021, to apply for their 2021 Academic Support Scholarships.
The scholarship program has been running since 1998, supporting more than 70 students with funding assistance for their first year of tertiary study.
Moyne Shire Council Mayor, Cr Daniel Meade, said the scholarships are open to Shire residents who are commencing full-time study in 2021.

“These scholarships are aimed at supporting students with the costs involved in the first year of study and previous years’ students have received up to $3,500 in scholarship funding

Warrnambool Businessman and Philanthropist, Cobden Fire Brigade Member Recognised
The Governor-General has today announced the Australia Day 2021 Honours List, recognising 845 Australians.
Among them is Warrnambool s Colin McKenna, who can now add AM to his title, after being appointed a member in the general division of the Order Of Australia, for his significant service to the community through a range of organisations.
The long time Managing Director of the Midfield Group, has been recognised for his philanthropic support to various organisations and charities in the local community since the late 1980s, along with his service to Peter s Project and the Warrnambool Racing Club.

Former teacher and long time volunteer recognised as Citizen Of The Year
Former primary school teacher and long-time Warrnambool volunteer Rosemary Isaac has been honoured with this year’s Warrnambool Citizen of the Year award.
Ms Isaac has been involved in a range of community organisations over several years including the Warrnambool Primary School, Warrnambool Family History Group, Warrnambool and District Historical Society, Cheese World Museum and the South West Branch of the Embroiders Guild of Victoria.
“There are some very illustrious people who have won before me,” she said.
“Most of my work is done in teams, so it’s not just me, but I hope this might bring a bit of notice to all of the groups.”

Moyne Celebrates Community Heroes
As part of its Australia Day celebrations, the Moyne Shire Council has recognised those individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to their community, as part of their 2021 Australia Day Awards.
Elizabeth Moore, fondly known as ‘Bev’ has been recognised as the shire s Citizen Of The Year, with her commitment to her local community having had a lasting impact on many lives.
A Mother to nine children, 23 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, community involvement has been a core part of Mrs Moore’s life.
Mrs Moore helps with the annual Royal Children’s Hospital auction, helping to raise more than $11,000 each year for the appeal, while she is also a long-standing member of the Garvoc Cemetery Trust.
