Amid an encampment of pro-Palestine student protesters, about 50 University of Michigan community members gathered on the Diag Monday evening for a teach-in about Palestine and to celebrate the first night of Passover with a seder, a ceremonial dinner in commemoration of the Jewish exodus from Egypt.
Despite nationwide flight cancellations due to weather conditions and labor shortages, the 2022 Labor Notes Conference drew a huge and diverse crowd of more than 4,000 workers from across the globe. They heard daring tales of organizing, learned strategies for getting a first contract, and joined a joyous Juneteenth celebration. Many workshops were packed, standing room only.
