Three suspects arrested in young girl’s rape, murder case in Khairpur

SUKKUR: Three suspects have been arrested in a rape and murder case of a seven-year-old girl, Monika Larik, in compliance with an FIR registered on the complaint of victim’s father.
The Pir-jo-Goth Police have registered an FIR against three unidentified accused on the complaint of Ghulam Shabbir, father of the minor girl, Mona alias Monika, who was strangulated to death after being raped. Dr Qamar-un-Nisa Unnar, in her preliminary post-mortem report, had revealed that the victim was raped and later strangulated to death. The doctor has also recommended the DNA test and in this regard, some samples had been sent to the LUMS.
Cobbler killed in alleged police torture in Khairpur

SUKKUR: A cobbler was killed by alleged police torture in Khairpur, while the police rejected the accusation.The parents of the deceased staged a protest in front of the SSP office, Khairpur, along with the body, saying the A-Section Police Khairpur had arrested their son, Sarfaraz Khokhar, and later murdered him after brutal torture at a police lockup.
The protesters have demanded the arrest of the police personnel who were allegedly involved in the murder. SSP Khairpur Capt (retd) Ameer Saud Magsi had taken notice of the incident and assigned SP Headquarters Nosherwan Ali Chandio to investigate the matter, while the SSP Khairpur had also suspended five policemen, including a head-constable.
