This fall, about 20 Black faith leaders will take an environmental bus tour to examine St. Louis locations that have irrigation and air quality systems, sustainable buildings and repurposed sites to better understand how to protect the environment and keep their congregations healthy.

OVERVIEW: Metropolitan Congregations United seeks a Lead Environmental Justice Organizer to manage two EJ staff; to conduct outreach, base building, training, education and leadership development for leaders; and lead an EJ campaign through the initiatives of an Interfaith EJ Task Force composed of a growing base of congregation-based teams. The position reports to the MCU Executive Director and is a collaborative effort between MCU, Sierra Club National, Roderick Burton of New Northside Missionary Baptist Church, and Community First Plus. Gamaliel National Training in relational organizing techniques with faith-based organizations will be provided.
