Fort Smith Public Schools #OnTrack program spreads to K-12
Fort Smith Times Record
Towards the end of the fall semester, Fort Smith Public Schools initiated the #OnTrack program to reduce the number of students failing one or more classes. While great progress was made in high school, elementary and junior high schools began to receive attention as well.
During Monday s School Board meeting, Ginni McDonald, director of secondary education, and Mary Ann Johns, director of elementary education, shared statistics about all grades.
McDonald shared that 17% of 12th graders, 41% of 11th graders, 30% of 10th graders and 24% of ninth graders were still in need of help with their studies and are failing at least one class. In junior high, 13% of seventh graders and 15% of eighth-graders are failing at least one course.
