New Partnership Tackles Food Insecurity in North Minneapolis New Partnership Tackles Food Insecurity in North Minneapolis CONTENT: Blog UnitedHealth Group continued its commitment to rebuilding the health of the Twin Cities and addressing health equity through a new partnership with the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ). As part of the partnership, UnitedHealth Group will provide a $1 million grant to NAZ to fund the Northside Partners for Food Delivery Program. The program is designed to address food insecurity experienced by North Minneapolis families with a unique partnership among NAZ, NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center, Appetite For Change, The Humanity Alliance, Minnesota Central Kitchen and Second Harvest Heartland.

At Hennepin Healthcare s Whittier Clinic in south Minneapolis, a group of staffers convened the day after the shooting to share their concerns about safety from outside threats. It s stressful, said Ursula Reynoso, program supervisor of Aqui Para Ti, an office within the clinic for Latino youths and their families. They re also handing out potatoes, as well as apples, canned fruit and toilet paper. Minnesota Community Care s clinics, which mostly support low-income people of color and immigrants, have launched new food pickups outside clinics to serve hundreds of families in need. It s part of a broader shift to expand access to food closer to home and at familiar spots from clinics and churches to libraries and city halls during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has worsened Minnesota s hunger crisis.
