YELLOWKNIFE - The Union of Northern Workers says it is pleased with a ruling by a Northwest Territories Supreme Court judge to lift restrictions on the number of people who can picket outside city facilities in Yellowknife.
An N.W.T. Supreme Court judge has amended a legal injunction against striking City of Yellowknife workers. There's no longer any limit on the number of workers who can be on picket lines in the city.
Unionized workers with the City of Yellowknife are still on picket lines after bargaining teams failed to reach a deal on a new collective agreement, but a court injunction is restricting their strike action.
The City of Yellowknife is applying to the N.W.T. Supreme Court for an injunction limiting how much striking workers can interfere with staff and non-unionized workers entering and exiting city facilities.
It's another day without a deal for the City of Yellowknife and its striking employees, and the unions for those workers say they don't plan on heading back to the bargaining table unless the city changes its tune on wages.
