MARISSA – Nine people among millions whose homes have run on power from Prairie State Generating have complained in court about the cost in 11 years, and their claims were dismissed.
BENTON – Energy companies that own Prairie State power plant near Marissa have operated in accordance with Illinois law since they started burning coal, according to a motion they filed to dismiss a suit seeking to shut it down.
BENTON - Sierra Club sued to shut down the Prairie State coal burning power plant near Marissa in federal court on March 22, and Illinois State Rep. Charlie Meier (R-Highland) responded by saying a plant closure could lead to increased electricity rates.
