Boosting jobs and maximising growth to secure Australia’s recovery
The Morrison-McCormack Government will maximise long-term economic opportunities and job creation to secure Australia’s recovery, by expanding the nation’s resources sector and prioritising development of northern Australia.
Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia Keith Pitt said new measures in the 2021-22 Budget will build a more secure and resilient Australia, delivering jobs, opportunities and long-term benefits, particularly for regional Australia, as the economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The 2021-22 Budget locks in funding to accelerate the development of northern Australia, and to build a global resources strategy and network to strengthen a vital sector that continues to underpin our economic recovery and wellbeing,” Minister Pitt said.

The Kimba community will benefit from an additional $2 million investment in services and infrastructure under a new round of the Community Benefit Program announced by the Coalition Government.
Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia Keith Pitt said this additional round of funding brings the total investment in Kimba under the program to $6 million, underscoring the Coalition Government’s support to the area.
“This additional investment will drive further economic and social improvements across the Kimba community,” Minister Pitt said.
“It is also a further investment in the economic success of Kimba, and highlights the government’s commitment to the area and the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility.

The Coalition Government is investing $20 million in a Global Resources Strategy which will help diversify exports and find new markets for Australia’s resources and technology.
Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia Keith Pitt launched the new global strategy in Townsville with Member for Herbert, Phillip Thompson.
Minister Pitt said it will help to strengthen Australian resources exports and promote Australia as a reliable and responsible supplier to the world.
“The Strategy will also support global demand for Australian resources as the world recovers from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and help Australia build resilience to trade shocks,” Minister Pitt said.
