north of houston. looks like those cars are driving straight toward it. one woman was injured after a tree came crashing down on to her home. maria melina is here with the latest for us. good morning. that tornado threat continues early this morning. we do have a tornado watch in effect for 8:00 a.m. central time for the states of mississippi and parts of northeastern louisiana. we have these storms rolling through early today that do have the potential to produce some more tornado touchdowns, and that risk for severe storms is going to continue to move eastward into parts of alabama and also parts of the florida panhandle today. then tomorrow, that same storm system continues marching eastward, and eastern parts of south carolina, north carolina, and also southeastern virginia do have the possibility to see more severe storms. and we re not only looking at the risk for tornados, but also damaging winds, potentially in excess of 60 miles per hour and large hail with these storms. t
the severe component to deal with, possible isolated tornadoes, damaging winds, as well. the ice is a big problem, though. right now especially through northern oklahoma, stretching into portions of missouri and we are seeing a little bit of a change over, though, behind it. you can see a lot of that turning into snow in central and northern oklahoma. so, that s going to continue. plan on i-35, especially and 44 to be dangerous over the next couple of hours and starting to see a change over into rain, though, where we were seeing ice just a few moments ago. the severe threat, though, is real. it s stretching anywhere from houston all the way to arklatex and northeastern louisiana and even into portions of say tennessee, memphis, you re included in this, as well. you can see two different boxes. the box on the bottom, that is a tornado watch in effect until 6:00 central time and then this box up on top is just, was just issued and that goes into effect until 8:00 central time. we have t
held and it s our main concern right now to get these two hostages out safe and back home with their family members. we re just asking everybody to remain calm and to pray and to dispel any rumors, not spread any rumors and that s where we are right now. jane, it s a long process. what do you know about the hostage taker? i heard that he was born in southern california, he s new to louisiana. is it true that his family owns a store in the area? do you have any clue if he may know the people that he s holding hostage? if he s from tensas parish, he would know the people that he s holding hostage. the only thing i can confirm is he family does own a convenience store and he was an employee at a convenience store here in tensas parish. in terms of his motive, just share what you can right now. do you know if this is a robbery
