Lyme Disease Cases Confirmed in Nebraska

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) was recently notified of two local cases of Lyme disease. Both patients reported likely exposure around the same timeframe at sites near Thurston County, Nebraska. On December 9, 2021, DHHS announced 'due to the association between cases, a joint environmental investigation was completed at the suspected exposure sites. As a result, Ixodes scapularis (commonly called deer tick or the blacklegged tick) were collected from the areas of likely exposure.
