Community college program allows grad to turn personal recovery struggles into new career

Two-and-a-half years ago, Kevin McCloud was at the lowest point of his life: homeless, penniless, unemployed and battling substance abuse addiction.
Today, he said it still feels surreal that he works as a certified recovery specialist at Change on Main in Northampton Borough.
“What better way to get up in the morning and go to work and make a difference in people’s lives,” he said.
The 55-year-old now believes each one of his life decisions, good and bad, were leading him to a classroom at Northampton Community College (NCC).
