School District of La Crosse celebrates Thank a Teacher Day

The School District of La Crosse is celebrating teachers. Tuesday was ‘Thank a Teacher Day’. Volunteers started off the morning by delivering fresh fruit, donuts and muffins to schools. At North Woods International School, teachers and staff gathered with members of the La Crosse Community Foundation and Mayor Mitch Reynolds for some in-person recognition. After nearly a year of virtual learning, teachers say it is nice to be able to celebrate. “It just feels good to know that people appreciate what we’ve done and what we’re doing for all of our students,” said North Woods International School 2nd grade teacher Becky Misch.

North Woods Elementary selected as International Baccalaureate school April 7, 2021 10:01 AM Jourdan Vian LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) North Woods International School in the School District of La Crosse will now offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, making it one of only 14 elementary schools in the state to have the distinction. “It is so exciting to have been selected as an IB school,” said North Woods International School Principal Keri Holter. “We strive to have students see connections everywhere and see differences as strengths and opportunities for positive change in the world. We use a rigorous curriculum and weave overall instructional best practices like equity and social/emotional learning throughout. Learning at North Woods is a celebration of all the very best elements education has to offer.”
