Japan Prime Minister Suga Japan will grant the Philippines ¥20 billion as part of the post-disaster standby loan, on top of ¥1 billion cold chain development assistance or a total of P9.2 billion for COVID-19 response, the Japanese Embassy in Manila said Thursday. In a statement released by the Japan Information and Culture Center, the Japanese government said the aid package was agreed upon in phone summit between President Rodrigo Duterte and Prime Minister Suga. “[In regard] to bilateral cooperation, Prime Minister Suga reiterated that he would spare no effort for the Philippine government s response to COVID-19,” the Japanese Embassy said.
