Four teens nabbed for reckless riding

KEPALA BATAS: Four teenagers have been detained here for riding their motorcycles in a dangerous manner. North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the suspects, aged between 13 and 16, were arrested during Ops Samseng Jalanan along Jalan Lahar Kepah at about 6.50pm on Saturday (July 24). During the operation, police spotted four motorcycles racing and doing dangerous stunts such as wheelies. They were stopped and detained at the side of Jalan Lahar Kepah, he said in a statement on Sunday (July 25). ACP Noorzainy said three of the suspects are still in secondary school while another, a school dropout, was detained under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for recklessness.

Penang cops arrest two, foil human trafficking syndicate

BUTTERWORTH: Penang police foiled human trafficking attempts with the arrest of two suspects at an apartment here on Friday (June 4). North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the two suspects, aged 41 and 34, were arrested during an operation dubbed Ops Pintas that was conducted at 8.55pm. During the raid, we also rescued ten foreign women who we believe are victims of human trafficking, he said in a statement Saturday (June 5). ACP Noorzainy said the victims, aged from 31 to 36, were from Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. He said initial investigations found that the suspects were part of a human trafficking syndicate that has been active for the past year and was using hotels as transit points to move the victims.

BUTTERWORTH: Ten individuals have been arrested here for alleged involvement in an unlicensed public lottery and online gambling. North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the suspects comprised six men and four women, aged between 17 and 51. He said on Thursday (May 20) the suspects were rounded up in raids carried out over two days at nine premises in the Butterworth, Mak Mandin and Kepala Batas areas of north Seberang Prai. “The raids were carried out from Tuesday (May 18) at approximately 8.30pm until Wednesday (May 19) at approximately 7pm. “Acting on information given, a police team from the North Seberang Prai D7 division with the assistance and cooperation of the Butterworth police station chief and state police D7 division team conducted the raids.

Carnival organisers in Bertam get two warning notices for breaching Covid-19 SOP

KEPALA BATAS: The organisers of the Mahabbah carnival in Bertam were slapped with two warning notices from the Health Ministry and the Seberang Prai City Council for failing to ensure adherence to Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP). North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said although the organisers had controlled the exit and entry lanes, they failed to limit the number of visitors and density on-site. “Warning notices were given as they failed to ensure physical distancing among visitors and failed to control the crowd. “We conducted an operation to ensure SOP compliance at the carnival on Sunday (April 25) at around 9pm together with other agencies.
