Low teens. Friday cloudy with snow highs low30s. Winds light south. Saturday mix of sun and clouds. Cold and windy. Highs low30s. Winds nw 1520 mph. Wind chills upper teens to low20s. Despite a nice, bright day, temperatures were stuck in the low30s through the afternoon. The breeze didnt help that kept wind chills in the dipping into the mid20s by 9 pm with wind chills in the mid teens. On cold nights, it doesnt take much of a breeze to make it feel significantly colder. Clouds will gradually increase overnight, so by the time you head out the door tomorrow morning, well be under mostly cloudy skies with temperatures starting in the low20s. An area of low pressure will skirt offshore tomorrow, so that will keep the clouds around and give some light to moderate snow during the early afternoon hours. Liz how have things changed since this afternoon . Not a whole lot most of the snow began tapering off by 5 tonight. There was concern over wet roads turning icy but we havent seen too many problems here. Take a look, this is north road street. Traffic is. As you can see, the pavement is clear Elizabeth City earlier this afternoon. 10 on your sides joe fisher was out here when the flurries began shortly before 2. Liz, youve been in touch region who say theyre pretreating the interstates and those areas well known to freeze first. Thats what many Hampton Roads cities and vdot spent today doing. Those efforts will continue overnight. Virginia beach public works trucks, plows and spreaders are lined up. Crews have their Winter Weather assignments. And theyre ready to go. As many as 30 operators could be called in if needed. But public works spokesman drew lankford says thats not the plan. At this point eight trucks will be out on the roads on friday.
