NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. Snow clearing efforts continue near and far around Cape Breton this week. More than 150 centimetres fell in the Sydney area, over 100 .
After many years of encouraging winter tourism in northern Cape Breton, operators say they're finally seeing results, with an increasing number of people from off-island travelling north of Smokey in search of snow.
Winter tourism is off to a slow start as businesses and recreational groups wait for snowfall. Snowshoes, snowmobiles and snowblowers are gathering dust. Meanwhile, businesses are seeing a change in customer buying habits.
