HATFIELD A Route 5 water and sewer infrastructure project can move forward with minor changes following annual Town Meeting approval this week, despite a property owner’s effort to have an associated raw sewage pumping station moved from the site of a restaurant.
During Tuesday evening’s three-hour, outdoor meeting that took up a 29-article warrant, voters approved all spending articles, including an $11.38 million operating budget that is $44,546 less than this year’s $11.42 million spending plan.
Hatfield schools will see a budget increase to $4.79 million, up $107,656 from the $4.68 million spent this year.

HATFIELD Decisions related to completing the Route 5 water and sewer infrastructure project, rezoning a parcel on North Hatfield Road to light industrial and changing the name of the top policy board so it is gender neutral could be made by residents at annual Town Meeting Tuesday.
The meeting, and its 29-article warrant, is to be called to order at 6 p.m. at the Lions Club pavilion on Billings Way, with people encouraged to bring hand sanitizer and bug spray.
The warrant includes an $11.38 million operating budget that is $44,546 less than this year’s $11.42 million spending plan, but provides for level services for the town and schools, as well as 2.3% salary adjustments for employees beyond a 2% cost of living adjustment.

HATFIELD A North Hatfield Road site could be rezoned to allow development of a medical or business office, a convenience store or a marijuana dispensary.
When annual Town Meeting convenes May 11, voters will make the decision on whether to change the zoning on the 9.4-acre parcel at 137 North Hatfield Road from rural residential to light industrial.
The rezoning request, which comes from Gregory Omasta of 123 North Hatfield Road, would need a two-thirds majority to pass.
The Planning Board in mid-April voted 3-2 to put the rezoning on the warrant with a neutral recommendation, with both Chairwoman Stephanie Slysz and Vice Chairman Robert Wagner voting against bringing the topic to Town Meeting.
