Region 8-A was split into two with a Division 1 and a Division 2 region. We will look at each separately in our final prediction story before tonight’s season-openers.
With reclassification resulting in dozens of small private schools exiting the GHSA, and perennial region stalwarts Elbert County and Rabun County moving down to Class A, this region was thrown into turmoil.
Of the seven regions making up the bulk of the Northeast Georgia area, Region 7-3A is by far the most wide open, and perhaps the most difficult to try and decipher.
Three-time defending Region 8-5A champ Clarke Central is back but the additions of Region 8-4A champ and powerhouse Jefferson, along with perennial playoff team Flowery Branch, should make this a compelling region to watch.
