NEW DELHI: The Modi government has cancelled the ad-hoc promotion of 8 under-secretaries across various Central departments, due to their non-joining/non-assumption of charge to the promotional post.
The government has also debarred them from ad-hoc promotion for a period of one year from the date of issue of promotion orders.
The eight officers belonging to Central Secretariat Service were among the 174 under-secretaries given ad-hoc promotion to the grade of deputy secretary through an order issued on December 11, 2020.
The officers were asked to assume the new charge immediately and not later than December 21, 2020, failing which the promotion orders with respect to non-joinee officers will be liable to be withdrawn, apart from debarment from ad-hoc promotion or other suitable consequences .
