April 9 marks a day to celebrate what is perhaps the most popular mythical creature ever. As such, the North East Wales Archives - which cover Denbighshire and Flintshire - have gone back through their records to take a look at any Unicorn-related content they could find from down the years. The unicorn, essentially a horse with a horn on its head, is a symbol of happiness, fantasy, and and magic. The North East Wales Archives team discovered that there once was a pub/brewery called The Unicorn in Ruthin. It was believed to have been trading in the early 1800 s and went on to become a butcher s shop and is now a private residence.

Stories of Welsh women from the past 300 years which were uncovered in archives have been turned into short films.
North East Wales Archives worked with Theatr Clwyd to create monologues which tell tales of the women.
Archivist Sarah Roberts hoped the films showed what can lie in the archives and highlight stories of ordinary women.
They are part of Women Rediscovered, a project designed to encourage people to explore local records offices.
