North Davidson High School s Gavin Hill is used to battling opponents on the gridiron and the diamond, never backing down from a fight.
The varsity Black Knight football and baseball player took that same determination with him into the hospital when he fought cancer five years ago and beat it. It was the toughest opponent he had ever faced and never wanted another match with it. Hill learned on Feb. 15, however, he will have to fight cancer one more time. The neuroblastoma tumor has returned.

Jonathan Brown, principal at North Davidson High School, says he has always been interested in securing future career paths for his students. Now he has turned that passion into a new career development of his own.

Brown is leaving his current position as principal at the high school at the end of December to take a new job as the Associate Vice President of Workforce and Community Development at Davidson County Community College.
