Monday COVID-19 Roundup: County Sees Increase in COVID-19 Outbreaks; 28,578 Total SCV Cases Uploaded: , Monday, Jul 12, 2021 By Press Release On Monday, Los Angeles County Public Health officials confirmed one new death and 1,059 new cases of COVID-19 countywide, with 28,578 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley. In addition, Public Health reported it is currently investigating 55 ongoing outbreaks which is a 25% increase from the 44 ongoing outbreak investigations reported a month ago. While the increase in outbreak investigations is concerning, Public Health notes the number of outbreaks is still much lower than the 1,130 outbreak investigations that were reported in mid-February. Of the outbreak investigations reported today, 20% are related to outbreaks in non-healthcare and non-residential workplaces.

The number of cases and deaths may reflect reporting delays over the holiday. Of the eight new deaths reported today, one person that passed away was over the age of 80, three people who died were between the ages of 65 and 79, and three people who died were between the ages of 50 and 64. One death was reported by the City of Pasadena.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Tuesday 3 new deaths and 326 new cases of COVID-19, with 28,376 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley. The number of cases and deaths may reflect reporting delays over the holiday. Of the three new deaths reported Tuesday, one person that passed away was between the ages of 65 and 79 and two people who died were between the ages of 30 and 49. To date, Public Health identified 1,253,065 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 24,507 deaths. There are 273 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized. Testing results are available for more than 7,070,000 individuals with 16% of people testing positive.

Note: Some counties are reporting backlogged cases due to data cleaning efforts. The number of backlogged cases varies by county and this is expected until July 2, 2021. There were 1,698 newly recorded confirmed cases Wednesday. The 7-day positivity rate is 1.4%. There have been 69,687,332 tests conducted in California. SCV News | Thursday COVID-19 Roundup: L A County Monitors Rise in New, Delta Variant Cases; SCV Cases Total 28,298

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Thursday the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a day since mid-April with 506 new cases. This is more than a doubling of new cases in two weeks. To date, Public Health identified 1,250,717 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County, including 28,298 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley and a total of 24,489 deaths countywide. There are 275 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 28% of these people are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Testing results are available for more than 7,035,000 individuals with 17% of people testing positive. The County’s daily test positivity rate is 1.2%, an increase from last week’s rate of 0.7%. The daily average case rate is 2.19 cases per 100,000 people, also an increase from last week’s rate of 1.74 cases per 100,000.
