Nature Matters: Eavesdropping on the Ocean set for February 11   Fin whale. Samara Haver is a researcher at Oregon State University where she uses underwater microphones to study ocean sounds. Sound in marine environments is generated by many types of marine life, natural phenomena, and man-made sources, such as whales, sea ice, and vessel traffic. In this presentation, Haver will explain how she and her colleagues listen to the ocean, and what they have learned by eavesdropping in underwater ecosystems all around the United States.
