Last Saturday, many of the region’s best young male and female soccer players put their skills on display, and looked to parlay their on-field talent into a college scholarship.
A contingent from Grande Prairie Regional College conducted a 3-hour evaluation camp at the North Cariboo Soccer Club as part of their Western Canada recruitment tour that includes stops in Edmonton, Calgary, William’s Lake, Whitehorse and Yellowknife.
Robin Watson, head coach for both the men’s and women’s Grande Prairie soccer teams, said he was impressed with the turnout, that included 27 young men and women from local high schools.
