I love sharing happy news…and this is happy news. One of the big issues we have always tried to help and draw attention to is food insecurity issues in Maine. Townsquare Media Central Maine has a long history of helping out by not only promoting these sorts of events but for years we had the Tanksgiving Food Drive that has recently become Camp Out Hunger. So it makes me very happy to tell you that in 2020, a year of such need and uncertainty, Maine Credit Unions reach a fundraising milestone by hitting a total of $10.4 million raised since 1990 and a record-breaking $966,775 in 2020 with all of its fundraising challenges due to the pandemic. Makes me very proud to be a member of the Maine Credit Union family.

Counting Pennies for a Cause
A year of waiting on spare change was well worth the wait for eleven county nursing care and assisted living facilities.
NorState Federal Credit Union is donating fees collected from the use of their coin counters in Madawaska, Presque Isle and Fort Kent locations to local nursing care and assisted living facilities for their activities departments and the residents they serve.
The week of January 25, 2021 is National Activity Professionals Week.
In honor of the activity professionals at nursing homes or assisted living facilities, who through their efforts in improving and enriching the daily lives of patients and residents, NorState Federal Credit Union has taken this opportunity to promote their theme of this year’s recognition “Activity Professionals Brighten Each Day” and send each facility a thank you card, and a NorState Visa Gift Card in the amount of $462.

Hope for the Holidays Food Drive
NorState Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that the annual Hope for the Holidays Food Drive is a go this year, with some pandemic protocols in place. Despite the freezing temperatures and the cold winds blowing outside, local food pantries are counting on this year’s annual food drive of non-perishable items to stock the shelves.
NorState’s Ending Hunger Director Elaine Clavette, when asked about the changes to this year’s food drive, and if pandemic restrictions would impact the quantities, stated, “In 2019, the food drive collected a record setting total, but this year I pray our members, neighbors family & friends rally together to donate much needed food items to any NorState FCU location, and help provide much needed relief to local families and individuals in need, especially this year! You will find collection boxes in our lobbies, and we ask that you wear a mask and social distance when entering to keep us all safe duri
