MSU clinician researcher to serve leadership position in Henry Ford Medical Group
Richard Leach, a national expert on in vitro fertilization and an academic researcher in the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, has been appointed chair of the Henry Ford Medical Group’s Department of Women’s Health Services. Leach will serve in a dual role and continue as chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology for MSU’s College of Human Medicine.
The appointment is notable in that it is the first announcement made since Henry Ford Health System and MSU finalized their 30-year partnership in January. As part of the alignment, Henry Ford and MSU aim to transform health care, advance medical research and address health disparities.

EAST LANSING, MI Michigan State University and Henry Ford Health System have formalized a 30-year partnership aimed to make Michigan a leader in providing access to health care for all residents.
Both institutions are committed to aligning efforts across departments and programs to achieve critical health care and educational goals, while addressing social issues that impact health outcomes for patients, according to a Henry Ford Health System news release.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are core components of the partnership, which includes fostering research, providing cancer care, interprofessional training, increasing diversity among the next generation of health care professionals and addressing the needs of traditionally underserved communities, according to the release.

On Monday, Michigan State announced a 30-year partnership with the Henry Ford Health System that includes a campus for Michigan State students to train and conduct research at the Henry Ford Campus in Detroit.
The goals of the partnership are to allow MSU students to participate in groundbreaking research, provide world-class cancer care and increase diversity in the next generation of health care providers in the state of Michigan.
“As one of the world’s top-100 research universities, we forge enduring partnerships dedicated to solving the most pressing challenges,” said MSU President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D. earlier today in a press conference. “Healthcare access and quality are certainly among them. With this enduring partnership between our two institutions, we aim to align efforts across several key departments and
