Dr. Daniel Yakes jokes that though heâs lived in the area for 50 years, he is still a newcomer in an area where many have grown up here and are considered âlocal.â
Nevertheless, Yakes has a love for the history of the area, and now he has published his latest volumes of local history, âCross River Rivals â An Illustrated History of the White Lake Area.â
The two-volume set will be available for borrowing at the White Lake Community Library and autographed copies will be for sale at the Book Nook & Java Shop in Montague. Exploring the origins of the rivalries between Whitehall and Montague, Cross River Rivals focuses on the two towns and how they competed and yet found common ground in some ways.
