Meditation on the arrival of spring was created for the Landsec Piccadilly Lights
In a worldwide display of unity, London’s famous Piccadilly Lights unites with digital outdoor advertising landmarks in three other cities on Saturday, May 1st to present a new video work by David Hockney, one of the world’s most celebrated living artists.
Hockney has created a bespoke rendition of his animated sunrise, titled Remember you cannot look at the sun or death for very long, to be shown on the iconic Piccadilly Lights as part of Landsec’s partnership with CIRCA.
The artwork itself is two and a half minutes in length and the Piccadilly Lights broadcast will last for three minutes. Hockney’s new work will also be showcased on more than 70 billboards in New York’s Times Square; COEX K-POP Square, the largest LED Screen in Korea; and Yunika Vision in Japan.

Jeff Koons has left his long term galleries Gagosian and David Zwirner to be exclusively represented by Pace. The move has come after the world’s most expensive living artist reboots and consolidates management of his sales.
Art is about your own excitement, your own potential, and what you can become. It affirms your existence. Jeff Koons
Koons had shown with Gagosian since 2001 and with David Zwirner since 2013. “Jeff changed the way we see the world around us and the way we understand our culture and ourselves,” Pace Gallery CEO and president Marc Glimcher said in a statement. “He perceived a cultural shift decades before any of us knew it was underway by propelling through the barrier of elitism that was ringfencing the art world.”

We’ve monitored Zoom funerals, weddings, graduations, christenings, bar and bat mitzvahs, alternately laughing and weeping at inanimate screens as we tried to make sense of a world turned upside down.
