Cleveland County veteran names wanted for Norman Veterans Memorial

around the border of the Cleveland County Veterans Memorial are 25 panels, some filled with the names of veterans who at one point lived in Cleveland County, while others remain blank until additional applications are submitted by veterans and their families. The Veterans Day Parade committee and the Norman Parks and Recreation Department are looking for additional submissions to get another round of names etched into the wall at the Veterans Memorial at Reaves Park before the November holiday. Dedicated on Veterans Day in 2008, the memorial, located at the southwest corner of Reaves Park, was created to honor veterans who at one point were residents of Cleveland County.

Senior Wellness Center on track for fall groundbreaking

Artist Rendering Provided The Senior Wellness Center Ad Hoc Committee Wednesday discussed potential changes to its original plan that would ensure the $9.9 million construction budget will cover the cost of building the Senior Center. The center will be located at the southeast corner of N. Findlay Avenue and E. Rich Street as part of the Norman Forward Sales Tax, as previously reported by the Transcript. While Jud Foster, director of Norman Parks and Recreation, said no major cuts are necessary, some changes were proposed at Wednesdayâs meeting to deliver the project within the budget.
