I needed a summer holiday. I needed sunshine. But six months travelling abroad had left me poor, reluctant to spend hours on a plane, and unsure about already asking my employer for time off already. I always say that I must explore our fair isle more, and that some of my best holidays have in fact been UK based. So what better opportunity for a weekend in the UK. Patricia B. (Bishop) Kennedy, a resident of Whitney Point, passed away peacefully at the age of 82. Pat was born on Feb. 11, 1938 in Tupper Lake to Leonard J. Bishop and Lucy M. (Miner) Bishop. She was one of nine children. She grew up and attended Tupper Lake schools and met her life partner Miles Walter Kennedy (Joe), marrying him on June 20, 1955. Pat began her work career long before marriage, working odd jobs as a teenager in Tupper Lake. She enjoyed cleaning the cabins and sleeping quarters for the lumberjacks. She also tended bar at a local hotel. After marriage, family and job opportunities brought her to Massachusetts briefly and then back to New York, finally settling in Homer. She spent 20 years working at Smith Corona Corporation building typewriters.
