Mail readers pay tribute to Barrow Island grandad Brian Heavyside

Tributes have flooded in for grandad Brian Heavyside, who has died aged 62. The Barrow Island resident leaves behind his two sons Jacob and Ben. Considered a ‘local legend’ to residents for his work in the community, Mr Heavyside grew up in Walney in his younger years but lived on Barrow Island most of his life. Mail readers have come together to pay tribute to Mr Heavyside who was described as a ‘top bloke’. Suzie White said: “Very sad news. He was such a lovely man. RIP mate.” Norma A Powell said: “So sorry to hear this very sad news. “I worked with Brian at the Imperial Hotel and remember the wonderful food he cooked. Also as an ex-resident of the Island I often met him and we always had a good chat.
