RICHMOND, Va. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam said Virginia was doing a better job getting COVID-19 vaccine into the arms of Virginians.
A critical point now that COVID-19 variants have been identified in Virginia.
The governor also called on school systems across Virginia to be prepared to welcome students back to in-person learning.
He set a March 15 deadline for school systems to begin at least some in-person learning plans.

Citing the disproportionate impact the virus has had on seniors, plus Black and Brown people, city leaders called for more transparency when it comes to documenting who is receiving the vaccine. Statewide, race and ethnicity are missing from over 48-percent of the vaccines administered.

Richmond City Council members who represent districts covering the city s south side called on state and local health leaders to take steps to improve access to the COVID-19 vaccine for their residents and to provide for more transparency tracking who has gotten the vaccine so far and who are left waiting.

RICHMOND, Va. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam promised to speed up the Commonwealthâs rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine at a news conference Tuesday. He also called on those currently receiving distributions to not hold on to the doses and administer them as quickly and safely as possible or they will get fewer doses in the future.
âNow that we have a baseline, we can ramp it up,â said Northam. âWe can be faster and weâre going to be faster.â
