Warburtons has taken delivery of a Renault Trucks D ZE, the first fully electric truck on its fleet.
The 16-tonner is based at the baker’s Enfield site, where it is used to deliver around 6 tonnes of bread to multiple locations across London. In addition to being exempt from the capital’s Ultra Low Emission Zone and Congestion Charge Zone, its low noise makes it ideal for urban deliveries.
The zero tailpipe emission truck, which is powered by 200kWh, 600V lithium-ion batteries, has a maximum power of 185kW and maximum torque of 425Nm. It has a range of up to 150km range on a single charge, and comes with the Renault Trucks Battery Performance Promise, which guarantees that the battery will operate for up to 10 years or deliver 250MW of energy over the vehicle’s life. The box body, with rear side door and tail lift, has been built by PPS Commercials.
