Beer lovers to ‘geek out’ over Great Lakes-inspired series

The Laurentian series from Speciation Artisan Ales in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a project where they brew spontaneous beers with breweries representing all five Great Lakes. They all brew the same recipe and use 100 percent Michigan malts and hops.John Gonzalez

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Fans of sour, wild and spontaneous ales are no strangers to Speciation Artisan Ales, the brainchild of brewer/owner Mitch Ermatinger.
Over the last five years, since opening in Comstock Park and then moving last summer to Wealthy Street in Grand Rapids, he has made a name for himself not only in Michigan, but around the country.

There was a Cheers! episode back in 2018 which featured a new Michigan version of an ancient Scandinavian spirit called aquavit. (See the story here.) Since then, Norden Aquavit has received a lot of attention and a lot of significant awards. A lot of retailers in Michigan and beyond carry the clear spirit.
