The WWE previously referred to its female talent as Divas & the term stuck around until the spotlight came to women's wrestling during the beginning of WWE NXT.
Beginning in the late 1990s, the World Wrestling Federation started to feature more women on their television shows. These women were soon called Divas.

Wrestling legend Molly Holly, aka Minnesota s Nora Benshoof, has been named as the latest inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame.
Holly, a native of Forest Lake, is the first announced inductee in the 2021 Hall of Fame class, WWE confirmed on Wednesday morning.
Holly, 43, got her start on the independent circuit in the late 90s and had a brief spell with WCW, but rose to prominence in WWE as one of the Holly Cousins alongside Hardcore Bob Holly and Crash Holly.

Molly Holly has been named the first inductee into the 2021 WWE Hall of Fame.
The 43-year-old semi-retired professional wrestler – whose real name is Nora Benshoof – was revealed on Wednesday (10.03.21) as the first wrestling star to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame for this year, when WWE producer Shane Helms appeared on ‘The Bump’ to surprise her with the news.
Speaking to Molly, Shane said: “Molly, I think you might like this. My senses tell me that you are going to like this. It is my esteemed honour and privilege to announce that the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame is you, Mighty Molly.”
