KARACHI: Just a day after the National Accountability Bureau filed a reference against the Sindh chief minister for alleged “misuse of authority”, the province’s ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Wednesday called it an attack on the elected provincial government while the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf demanded inclusion of CM’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL).
The reaction from the government and opposition came in separate press conferences.
First came the PPP’s presser in which key members of the Sindh cabinet termed the NAB reference against Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah an attack on the democratically elected provincial government.
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday filed a reference against Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in the Accountability Court, which summoned Deputy Chairman of the Senate Saleem Mandviwala on Feb 4 in connection with a case about alleged illegal allotment of plots.
Accountability judge Mohammad Bashir also summoned former managing director of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Aijaz Haroon in the same case.
NAB has filed the first-ever reference against Murad Ali Shah for “misuse of authority”. He is accused of using his influence and releasing funds for some power projects in violation of the rules.
The reference against the Sindh CM was filed by the NAB’s regional directorate of Rawalpindi.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has indicted Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a corruption reference.
NAB has filed the reference against CM Sindh in the accountability court Islamabad for misuse of power in energy projects in Sindh.
The NAB reference says that unregulated funds were released for energy projects in Sindh. Billions were misappropriated in the Nooriabad Power Company and Sindh Transmission & Dispatch Company projects.
In the reference, 17 persons, including Sindh Chief Minister and Abdul Ghani Majeed have been indicted.

In another major development in the fake bank accounts case, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday filed a reference against Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah over alleged misuse of power in energy-related projects in the province and issuance of funds in violation of rules.
The reference filed by NAB Rawalpindi in an accountability court in Islamabad stated that the funds Shah had issued for power projects in Sindh were in violation of rules and that billions of rupees were embezzled in Nooriabad Power Company and Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company projects.
