Bid to extend Gallowgate shop and open takeaway AN East End shop is hoping to serve up a fresh look by extending its premises. Bosses at Noor Food Store, at 289 Gallowgate, want to takeover a neighbouring lot and add a hot food takeaway. The shop, which specialises in Halal-certified produce, has grown in popularity since opening just last year. In planning documents submitted to Glasgow City Council, agent Keith Edwards Architect wrote: “The existing premises is a single-storey shop which was formerly part of the ground floor shops below a three-storey tenement, which has now been removed.” “The proposal is for the extension of one shop into the next door premises, 587, and be part of the main shop.

From now until May 12 it means daily fasting – including no water – after the pre-dawn suhur meal, and eating again only at sunset with an iftar meal.
